I find it interesting how Temporary Secretary spits opinion so much. For example how, last year, NME put it at number 167 in their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list, and yet its still hated on by the likes of Allmusic. I'm definitely in the love it party.

If a more 'cool' artist in received wisdom (though I consider Paul to be uber-cool) had released Temporary Secretary it would be held in higher regard I think. The lazy view of Paul as thumbs aloft Macca blinded a lot of people to his more outre work.

True. I once tried to speak up praise for Secret Friend to a friend but he wasn't buying it because "Paul hasn't been good since Ram". If anything that NME ranking may have turned a few heads around, which is good. "wonky electropop that didn't sound so much ahead of its time as out of it altogether."
