PAUL MCCARTNEY SURVIVOR: McCartney II (COMING UP WINS!)

Post by tom_cas1 » 14 Jan 2016, 17:48

Most of you may already know the rules but for those that don't:

For each album each song is a round, and each round you vote for your LEAST FAVOURITE song and that song will then be eliminated. When a song is eliminated I will post the results and then the updated album track list without the song that was voted off, and then we continue until we are left with one song from each album, the overall winner. Remember...there is no poll, so you vote in a post by simply stating which song you want to eliminate in each round. If everyone could put their choice in BOLD then that would be great and easier for me to add up at the end of each day.

So let us begin...MCCARTNEY II!

Coming Up
Temporary Secretary
On The Way
Waterfalls
Nobody Knows
Front Parlour
Summer's Day Song
Frozen Jap
Bogey Music
Darkroom
One Of These Days

--------

GET ELIMINATING!

Oh yes! So good to be back - McCartney II is one of the most fascinating Paul records and I like it a lot - especially some outtakes and b-sides, where his creativity unleashed at its fullest... But some tunes feel so dated now and are not that great.

I wanted to choose Bogey Music, but then I saw something I have to vote for - and it's Frozen Jap - Check My Machine would look at this place so much better!

Noo! Frozen Jap is McCartney at this most Berlin Trilogy.

But I agree that the B-sides are fantastic. Secret Friend is my favourite ever McCartney solo song. Check My Machine is also top 10. Imagine if they had appeared as tracks 12 and 13!

A real return to form for Paul, not that his later Wings albums weren't any good. But McCartney II is exceptional. I'm going to have to think a bit more on this one.

I agree wih you all. This is a fantastic album that seems to be thoroughly overlooked.

I'll go Bogey Music. Still quite like it though... This is going to be tough.

That's right. Don't like that bluesy sound. I much prefer Frozen Jap, in fact I really like it - a much more interesting proposition: McCartney experimenting, which is what this album is all about.
