Def Leppard Thread

I've never noticed anyone mention them in this forum (but only on a couple instances)....Any other fans? I loved all their earlier material, just such a solid band indeed!

I was a fan of all their stuff up through Hysteria and then Steve Clark died and it just wasn't the same after that. Joe still sounded the same, but the music was missing something. When they released "Let's Get Rocked" with it's lyric that blatantly screams, "Hey kids, you should buy our album because we're just like you" I was done.I prefer the earlier harder stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHNBxd4LnDs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to the Hysteria stuff, but all of it up to that album is decent. However, Joe Elliot wrote some of the most naff lyrics I have ever heard. "Livin like a lover with a radar phone" being one example that makes me cringe.

They're pop fun I guess. I like Armageddon It/Pour Some Sugar on Me/Animal/Rocket from Hysteria, although I guess they're guilty pleasures. The drum interlude with the random vocal sounds in the album version Rocket is a nice touch and makes it far better than the single version. I also like Let's Get Rocked and the often disliked Slang (I have the album too haha!)

Photograph is a cracking song.

"Pyromania" and "Hysteria" will both always maintain legendary status and "Adrenalize" had some solid moments as well... But I will admit I haven't been into them since.. but Vivian Campbell has been a solid replacement for Steve Clark, but Vivian's Hodgkin's lymphoma has forced him to remain inactive at this time...I wish and hope he an immediate and permanent recovery!

Disagree. He's fine as a guitar player, but he can't hold a candle to Steve.

I must admit they've never been able to interest me, though I love that joke/riddle: What has 9 arms and sucks?

I didn't mean he was more or just as solid than Steve, but he had a very excellent background before joining them, so just a solid choice in that regard in general...

Or the obvious joke... Bloodhound Gang...
