RADIOHEAD SURVIVOR: Kid A (IDIOTEQUE WINS!)

Post by TripleJay97 » 13 Sep 2015, 06:16

Some of you may already know the rules but for those that don't:

For each album each song is a round, and each round you vote for your LEAST FAVOURITE song and that song will then be eliminated. When a song is eliminated I will post the results and then the updated album track list without the song that was voted off, and then we continue until we are left with one song from each album, the overall winner. Hopefully we can eliminate one song per day which means each album will take about 2 weeks to complete. Remember...there is no poll, so you vote in a post by simply stating which song you want to eliminate in each round. If everyone could put their choice in BOLD then that would be great and easier for me to add up at the end of each day.

Let us begin... KID A!!!

Everything in it's Right Place
Kid A
The National Anthem
How to Disappear Completely
Treefingers
Optimistic
In Limbo
Idioteque
Morning Bell
Motion Picture Soundtrack

Treefingers is inevitable I suppose. It's a shame, really. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Morning Bell. I wish it had something that slightly resembled a melody.

Really, Morning Bell never did anything for me. Okay, it's in an odd time signature, so what? It's still the most boring song here with Optimistic.

I don't like it for the time signature, I like it because it's fucking beautiful! With a great chord progression, lyrics about divorce, ambient production and a subdued, robotic vocal that's as harsh and cold as the situation it's describing, I think it's one of the best songs here. Which is saying something, because they're all pretty much perfect.

Fair enough. I have to agree with the lyrics being great but then again, most Radiohead lyrics are great. Gotta root for the title track or HTDC though.

Treefingers I'll be amazed if HTDC, Kid A or Motion Picture Soundtrack don't win (I'll find it impossible to pick between the first two, but if you've heard Kid A live (especially from Bonnaroo 2006) you'll know how it works just as well/better live).

We did this in a Radiohead Facebook group, and EIIRP won, if I recall correctly.

I love it live but on the album I don't think it compares to Kid A or HTDC... I consider HTDC to be one of their best songs (and Talk Show Host).
