I like it a great deal. Centipede Hz was good too but a grower, I found. At first it just seemed like a sensory overload.

I like the new song. I still haven't heard CHz all the way through (plan to soon though), but I listened to a few songs from it recently and they sounded fine to me. How come people dislike it so much?

I'm actually loving this track now. Its like they fused the sound productions of Strawberry Jam and MPP with each other and with a Centipede style song structure (except faster). It's also very catchy.

MrBriggs - I don't know to be honest. It's very hard to digest on first listen, I found. There's so much to take in. But the more you listen to it the more it all sounds wonderfully ecstatic and vibrant. And memorable.

The new album leaked, although it isn't a great sound quality.

i've always thought there was good pop at the core of their sound
but they've always hid it behind so many layers of reverb, effects, weird sounds and for the most part i wasn't able to get into it
this album remedies that for me

(you know i haven't tried their older stuff for a couple years, i think i'll do that)

I wouldn't call it a classic but it's pretty good, definitely better than Centipede. I've seen some backlash already though so I guess it'll end up being quite divisive.

Unfortunately its not had the most glowing of reviews, which is a shame.

It's like they've taken catchy fun pop songs and given them their usual busy electronic production (Basement Jaxx-esque dose of restless beep boop bop). Merriweather was similar except without the busy production, instead using its own "glassy" one. Then Centipede was a full on sensory overload of sound.

The video for Floridada is awful though.
1. They've done fast, psychedelic overtly-colourful videos for basically every video they've ever done. To quote the cliche, a "rainbow being sick", but loads of them in this case
2. The CGI is very dated
3. What is this I'm even watching? Drug induced conception and pregnancy?
4. THE SEIZURE PART. It doesn't give me a seizure but because my right eye is a blur it just made the whole light halo around the video a pain
5. It came out ages after the song and as a result of them uploading it, they've gotten rid of the official Audio-only video that was louder.
6. On top of all that, it has nothing to do with Florida, and surely it's no-one's interpretation of Dada either.

yeah it seems to be getting a rather mixed reception, which is too bad because I think it's pretty good. but I think Centipede Hz is a great album too, so I don't really understand the backlash they seem to be getting.

'Floridada' has been getting a lot of airplay on BBC 6Music. It reminds me of They Might Be Giants back in the day.

From the beginning the ultra-fast part reminded me of the ultra-fast part in Dinner Bell.

I haven't heart of AC before, but I heard "Floridada" and really liked it. Might check out the whatever record features it as well :)

davidsutter - yes, it confirms that the two bands sound similar.

I love this band so much and Strawberry Jam was a lot better than I thought it was. What an LP.

Also really getting into STGSTV, which is the /mu/core choice of album.

Strawberry Jam is still their best record. Or maybe it isn't but it's the only one that's got Fireworks and that's enough.

Fireworks is sure probably their masterpiece. Also besides what people normally say about it I love how it manages to be pretty bedlam and yet impossible not to sing along to.

Strawberry Jam might have even become my favourite in the last month. A great blend of the almost-MPP sound in the first half and stranger stuff akin to a more electronicised Here Comes the Indian
