Yay or nay?

For me, yay. Mission Of Burma and The New Pornographers would craft this magnificent noisy masterpiece.

Well I'm playing Pearl Jam and I just played Animal Collective. Wouldn't work at all. Firstly, it seems all the recent AC is like everything thrown at a brick wall (by that I mean I've heard Centipede Hz twice) and Pearl Jam like their distortion. They like a hook yes (seemingly, but not really, unlike Centipede Hz), but they also like the amps to be turned up. A sonic mess guaranteed.

Would be damn psychedelic though.

cibo matto & daft punk

would probably be shit because Pharrell would probably find a way to get into the studio and shit on the track, trying to make a "hit"

Cardiacs and Pulp. Fuck yes. Though I'm not sure Jarvis would be able to put up with Tim Smith for too long

The Kinks and the Beach Boys....They would have been awesome together...In fact, so many parallels between the two bands, including their musical direction from '67-'73!

The Kinks and the Bluetones...would be interesting but the collaborative nature of the 'Tones with Ray Davies' dictatorial control on his songs would probably not work as a collaboration

John Coltrane & Duran Duran... highly unlikely, though I think it could sound good...

R.E.M. and Primal Scream... That would certainly be interesting! Dunno if it would be any good though.

I'm having fun trying to image it but I'm failing. It depends which Primal Scream it be. For example, Hedonistic ecstasy era (90-91) might make either a seven minute 'jangle-dance' Stand and Shiny Happy People or an album of variations of either Airportman/Hope with female vocals and spaced out interludes, or.. er, imagine if an instrumental Radio Song had a mid-pace Amen break??? Yeah might be like that. Retro rock era (94-95) would maybe make R.E.M.'s Troggs stuff. Vanishing Point would perhaps a slightly more aggressive Up. Piss angry sonic death era (XTRMNTR) would be the greatest music on Earth.

My last two bands: Blur and Peatbog Faeries. Now that is an unlikely, ugly/beautiful collaboration. Firstly, as far as PF are concerned, I wouldn't even know which parts to take away because they change their sound all the time, or maybe take both band's 2003 albums and subtract the African rhythms and Krautrock-esque stuff, mix them together, but ban singing and Celtic instruments.

R.E.M. and Frank Zappa...

 That would be a weird one, to say the least!

^I would love that

Death Grips and Cardiacs. This would be insane. Tim Smith's compositional skills with Ride's minimalist beats, and Smith and Ride would make a really interesting duet...
