Re: Super Furry Animals
Heard the single 'Demons' on 6Music the other day. First time I'd heard it probably since it was released. Surprised that it was as far back as 1997. A nostalgic trip back to those times.

Yes indeed, I was thinking that when I heard it. A forgotten gem from the 'Britpop' days. I will dig out my SFA albums again some day

That moment when you realise where Rubi's signature pic comes from.

I used to absolutely love them but for me they turned to shit after Phantom Power. Just so dull.

Red Ranger FTW!TripleJay97 wrote:Yeah, that clicked recently for me too

I object! Hey Venus! and DD/LY were both excellent. If anything, Phantom Power and Love Kraft are their two weakest records.Sean wrote:I used to absolutely love them but for me they turned to shit after Phantom Power. Just so dull.

love kraft has some great gems on it though.
i like all their records but didn't feel dd/ly as much as their others. some really amazing songs on it though...
and i consider out spaced a proper sfa album. every song on there is fantastic (well, i always skip "don't be a fool billy" since it reminds me of an old friend named billy)

Oh, absolutely. All their albums are full of great songs. I just feel that Love Kraft and Phantom Power have several unmemorable tracks in addition, or tracks that I would simply skip, whereas the rest of their albums are much more consistent in that regard.metalhipslop wrote:love kraft has some great gems on it though.

Haven't listened to Out Spaced or any of the EPs, which I probably should.

I'm very much into them at the moment. Shame they haven't done an album in almost 7 years though, especially considering how fast they used to arrive
I never gave much listen to Dark Days/Light Years but I'm really enjoying that at the moment. A return to form sorta record, really. I'm not the biggest fan of Hey Venus, or Mwng for the matter, because I prefer bloopy bleepy poppy eclectic SFA, but those are still solid 7/10 albums imo (and I know everyone else gave them 8/10, but that rating is reserved for most of their other albums

So here it is! As weird and trippy as it gets. Dunno what to think of it yet.

It's a bit of fun, I like it. Does silly pop music a lot better than All for One that's for sure.
