Super Furry Animals

Post by AdvertBreak » 03 Mar 2015, 02:33

Seen them mentioned a few times on here and as I think they are great, I wanted to make a thread.

Albums ranked
1. Rings Around the World
2. Radiator
3. Guerilla
4. Phantom Power
5. Fuzzy Logic
6. Love Kraft
Only heard Mwng, Hey Venus! and DDLY about twice each so I don't feel I can rank them yet.

Yes!

1. Radiator
2. Guerrilla
3. Rings Around the World
4. Mwng
5. Fuzzy Logic
6. Phantom Power
7. Dark Days/Light Years
8. Love Kraft
9. Hey Venus!

They're criminally underrated as a band. I'm the only person in my circle of friends who knows about them.

Got into them about five years ago, have been in my top 10 bands ever since. I agree with TripleJay, they're very underrated.

1. Hey Venus!
2. Rings Around the World
3. Radiator
4. Dark Days/Light Years
5. Guerrilla
6. Mwng
7. Fuzzy Logic
8. Phantom Power
9. Love Kraft

I would also recommend giving a listen to Gruff Rhys' Neon Neon project. Some really great tracks in there.

One of the things I really like about the band is Rhys' vocal stylings (eg. the NA NANA NA NANA NANANANAs of Night Vision), so I'll be sure to check that out.

Underrated or unknown? I mean I've not really looked but I've never seen a bad review of them. I agree their music goes generally unnoticed but I thought this was more a popularity thing than anyone not really liking them.

They're generally hailed by critics, but yeah, a bit unknown given the sheer quality of their music.

That was the point I was trying to make, yes. I meant underrated in terms of being unlikely to turn up on BestEverAlbum lists.

Ah, cool! I've always wanted a copy of Mwng, its a wonderful album. Learned a little bit of Welsh from it!

So is this a deluxe reissue of Mwng or just a straight forward reissue?

Apparently it's a "deluxe 15th anniversary reissue". So that's something to get excited about.

I would have been happy if it was just a standard reissue, because I'm sure it's out of print. I can't find the bloody thing anywhere.

Same here, and when I did find it, it was in a charity shop and it was much more expensive then the rest of the regular albums they were selling.

:) Always liked them, from when they first emerged in 1996. Bought a few of their earlier albums.
