Life Without Buildings

Post by aldamasta » 29 Jan 2015, 18:27

I've recently gotten into Life Without Buildings. Although they only released one studio album "Any Other City", they achieved perfection on it. I've been listening to it non stop this week. Sue Tompkins has a beautiful voice and unique style, you'll never get tired of hearing her speaking to you. My only regret in listening to LWB is that I didn't sooner! No doubt their album is a classic. Anyone else here enjoy them? :D

I've just gotten into these as well, the instrumentation is wonderful. The vocals are very unique indeed, I've not heard anything like it.

Ah glad someone else has! Yes the instrumentation has sort of a beautiful simplicity. And it goes perfectly with the vocals. I've listened to Any Other City so much lately... I really need to listen to their live album now. A friend of mine sent me the MP3s of both, but I desperately want Any Other City on vinyl!

I've heard the live album, it's just as good as Any Other City if not better. It captures the almost improvisational vocals really well.

I think Sue is so impressive live. How does she get it all so perfectly? Just amazing.

as for the live album its great, and has a few non album tracks on it too

they never released a song that wasnt amazing. Any Other City is one of the true standout records of the 00s
a shame that so few people heard it

amazing to think a song as downright perfect as Daylighting didnt make the album!!!
