George Ezra - yes or no?

Post by Neal Zeal » 16 Jan 2015, 17:01

I've heard two singles now - both are cracking pieces of music that I can't help singing along to, but his voice is just, well, horrible!
Even so, am still a little tempted by the album. Anyone got it?

I quite like his voice. Reminds me of 50s singers. Budapest, Cassy O and Blame It On Me are terrific pop songs. I heard the album a couple of times and it's nice, though not all the songs live up to the singles. It's a decent first effort, though.

I was going to say "who?", until I saw Miki mention "Budapest"... so, until I've heard more I'll go for "no". Really don't like that song.

Thanks Miki. Must admit, I'm never quite sure what is meant by the term 'pop song'. I think all songs with singing, verses, choruses etc are effectively pop songs. All the best groups (Blur, Smiths, Stone Roses etc) describe themselves as pop groups.
Anyway, err, getting back on topic...
Yeah, I love Blame it on Me. The bit at the start of the chorus is immense! And I love melodies in Budapest.
Haven't heard Cassy O. Will check it out and maybe get the album...

Yes, overplayed and, yes, a horrible singing voice but ...
I still can't resist the songs!
