Music Videos

A pretty cool video imo. I was going to post it on the Beck thread (because that was the reason it first caught my attention), but then I thought we could share others. :)

Saw this earlier on Beck's FB group. Very very clever!

Music videos don't really seem to matter to people anymore, most of them are just performance videos. I've not seen anything truly innovative in a music video for a really long time.

Some personal highlights include 'Coffee & TV', 'Just' by Radiohead, 'We Used to Wait' by Arcade Fire and 'Closer' by Nine Inch Nails.

That album cover video was very clever indeed

I kinda don't get the point of music videos anymore since there's no channel that plays them anymore. There's not even a show that I know of (at least here in the US) that comes on once a week and just features music videos.

That said, I grew up in the 80's and watched MTV all of the time (and back then they only played music videos - now I feel old) so I totally appreciate and love videos. I got into a few bands just by seeing their videos on tv. The most memorable time that I saw a video and was blown away by the song (and LOVED the video) was this one back in 1999:

Yes, but that's why I thought we could share the ones we think are worth seeing. C&TV is the obligatory but still amazing example. Maybe the concept of music videos is a little pointless nowadays. Especially for artists that are not massive and don't get their videos played in music channels, but I still enjoy watching one with a different or fun concept.
8-)

I liked the concept of What'll it take https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNTjHbwIZeE
And I could basically post any video from these guys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTAAsCNK7RA

On the contrary, I think that in the Youtube age, a video with a clever concept can attract a lot of attention. The problem is, 95% of videos these days are rather unimaginative.

I know what you mean, but really that's not that difficult. The average "Miffy & Friends" episode is scarier.

Anyhow, I cannot really comment on recent videos: I probably don't see more than 5 a year nowadays, and I cannot remember the last one I really liked. Maybe "Sadness Is A Blessing" by Lykke Li.. there's something instantly appealing about emotionally conflicted pretty Swedish girls, and when they're drunk, oh boy.

Although I go on and off Radiohead their video's are always awesome.

I've never heard of "Miffy & Friends"....... I agree w/Radiohead's videos! Here's a hilarious video by the band Gomez:

The music video for Arcade Fire's 'We Exist' is a modern favourite.
