He didn't write Inside or any of Stiltskin's The Mind's Eye (instead the band leader was the guy responsible for numerous TV jingles including BBC One's Rhythm and Movement idents 2002-06). Calling All Stations suffers from a lack of songs, really. Congo and The Dividing Line are quite good, and even Alien Afternoon dare I say so, but, well, this YouTube review from the man himself best re-addresses my criticisms. Its quite long though.

I agree, Genesis finished in 1996.
Yeah... I understand.. just Mike and Tony shouldn't have forced newer Genesis sans Phil.....Just a MAJOR miscalculation obviously..... but more than likely forgotten by the masses....

He was the 'indie axis' of the Genesis family - whereas Phil & the others appealed to the 'married with children' audience.
Phil's solo career really necessitated that Genesis moved in that direction or they would have broken-up several years earlier....Although, there always seemed to be at least 1-2 tracks per the 1980s albums they would recall some of their progressive sound....
Phil/Genesis had to move in that direction because that was the way that the mainstream was going.

They had a huge mainstream following which couldn't be alienated. If they had done so, it would have been like the OMD/ABC/Dexy's Midnight Runners sagas (as is being discussed on the OMD thread).

Whereas Peter Gabriel was/is always his own man.

Now this! http://www.musictimes.com/articles/5259 ... eunion.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Edit: Here's the actual Rolling Stone article: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ ... d-20151028" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This debunks the Genesis full-scale reunion to a concert degree...

I really like the idea of the updated covers, made even cleverer by the fact that the campaign's called Take a look at me now

Agreed... haha...really captures though the anguish some of the songs had from that album...I remember back then my older sis and I would always notice how "pissed-off" he sounded... Lord!

I certainly hope so....then he will continue to announce more live dates...I do have this strong notion that 2017 will be the year of Genesis! 2016 exclusively will be all Phil....
