I think if you're annoyed by them then they've succeeded

They haven't done much for my ears. They seem a bit old to be ranting like that.... :)

Also that their rants are often empty.

It says a lot when a song like jobseeker written 8 years ago is more relevant than ever now

Definitely Adele. I might have liked, say, Someone Like You to a small extent if it hadn't been shoved down my ears 10 times a day throughout 2011.

I like them. They're a tad overrated but some of their tracks are undoubteldy great. Message in the Bottle especially. The guitar sound and riff is right up my street. Plus there's other classics like Roxanne and Walking on the Moon.

They're definitely more of a singles band to me, which is ironic considering the high reputation their albums have with critics. And also the lack of straight consensus. For example, Zenyatta Mondatta is considered their best album by Allmusic (the only one with 5/5 stars) but the worst one by Rolling Stone (the only one missing from their 500 greatest albums list).

People just despise Sting more than just the Police? I am wondering how those in England perceive him?

I loved "Ghost in the Machine" and "Synchronicity" more than their earlier efforts..... But.. anyways..you all view Sting as a sell-out.. like Bono is to many?

I'm not too fond of The Police (they had their moments), but I love at least 3 of Sting's solo records (Nothing Like The Sun, The Soul Cages & Ten Summoner Tales).
