Canned Heat - that vocal for 'On The Road Again' wouldn't pass the initial X-Factor auditions now.... :lol:

I know Al Wilson's vocal were rather quirky on that particular track, but it suited the song perfectly....I loved his distinctive voice, complemented Bob Hite's brilliantly... Too bad both left us WAY TOO prematurely!

Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship are underrated to a certain lesser extent....

some of his stuff's incredibly overrated (his first 4 or 5 records which I personally feel are a notch less interesting and fun than what The Police were doing), while some other stuff he's done deserves far more attention (North, Secret Profane & Sugarcane, All This Useless Beauty, Painted From Memory... all marvellous records).

His singing is much better nowadays too.. on those early records he gets on my nerves..

KLL76 - I quite like 'On The Road Again'. It was very much of its time, and as such could reach the top ten at that time.

Terry Wogan mentioned about it "not being X-Factor suited" when he played it near the end of his Radio 2 daily run in 2009. He will have played it on daytime Radio 1 in 1968. :)

P.S. KLL76 - you're right about Wilson & Hite leaving us prematurely.

I loved Costello's second album, it's got some fantastic songs on it, but I've never really delved into his discography further than that.

Oh okay! haha :D I never heard of Wogan's reference...thanks for your clarification..

Regarding Elvis Costello..I loved how him and the Attractions sounded live (including the earlier years) Even far superior than they were on record, but I tend to agree he improved as the years went on....

Tears for Fears...Underrated or not?

Doesn't matter, the group are fairly unknown unless you're a Clapton/Allman Brothers Fan. Hence why everyone things the Layla song is just a Clapton song when in fact it's Derek and the Dominos. Believe me, they are most certainly underrated.
