Late 60's and early 70's was the best period by far. I mean:

Beggars Banquet
Let It Bleed
Sticky Fingers
Exile On Main Street
Goats Head Soup

A superb run of albums!! The following Ronnie Wood era albums are great too:

Some Girls
Tattoo You
Voodoo Lounge

You're spot on! I also would like to add "Steel Wheels" among the better Wood era albums...Perhaps I'm partial to that because that's the only time I saw them in concert (during that tour).....

The band played Sticky Fingers in full last night at a show in LA. Man I wish I could have been there!! I'm hoping a decent bootleg turns up at some point, or better, a live album.

That sounds awesome....I would love if they did a one-off performance w/Mick Taylor of "Exile" in its entirety... that would be THE BEST!

I've read from several folks on a Stones message board I frequent that the audience was 95% made up of press and industry folks, many of whom left BEFORE THE SHOW WAS OVER! Ridiculous! Fuck those people, let the fans in!

I heard that it was a free show with tickets given away to fans. There are a few people in a Facebook group who can back that up as they were there. 95% press has to be an exaggeration!

I'm just reporting what a few people who were there said. They said it was mostly press and industry folks and that many of them sat there bored out of their gourds and then left early. Seems it was more a showcase for the Stones to kick off their tour and promote the Sticky Fingers re-release than a proper fan gig. *shrug* I don't know who to believe :)

I just wish they'd play a Sticky Fingers only show here in England!

I only saw the Stones live once (during the Steel Wheels tour).... They were still awesome then, but I just haven't gotten enthusiastic to watch them live since..... Maybe I'm missing out, but it seems not to be as thrilling to see them live in recent years..that they've essentially become caricatures of themselves? Perhaps I'm wrong....

Don't know, I think they'd still be amazing! I haven't seen them by my dad saw them back on the day on the first tour with Ronnie Wood. 1975/76.

Wow...that's awesome your dad saw them back then.... You hopefully can scratch that off your bucket-list yourself despite whether or not they've declined over the years. There's nothing like hearing certain songs of theirs live..."Paint It Black" was such an experience! I have to research the set-list they did when I saw them.... The band Living Colour was their supporting act....One of my all-time favorite concerts!

Yeah I know for a fact I wouldn't be disappointed if I saw them. I unfortunately missed out on tickets when they played at Hyde Park a few years ago and that was the most recent time they played here. Really hoping for a few big UK shows sometime in the next year. London would be ideal but I wouldn't mind traveling to see them whether it was Cardiff, Birmingham or somewhere like that. PLEASE!!

I'd love to go see them but they just cost too much $$...

Anyway, Keith's book, Life...

http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com.br/2015/ ... -life.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

FINALLY got around to doing this one. I'd read it when it came out but I gave it a fresh re-reading for this review. My opinion hasn't changed...awesome book.
I know loads of you on here have read it...thoughts?

Yep one of my favourite music books. Great read. Love how he called Mick's Goddess In The Doorway album "Dogshit In The Doorway". :lol"

Haha, yeah, Keith is a riot!  Also like how he talked about Mick suffering from the illness known as LVS (Lead Vocalist Syndrome)
