The Beatles Thread

Re: The Beatles Thread
I just listened to it. The audio isn’t great so I wouldn’t read into his breathing that much. But it sounds like it’s just a slower version of the song. Kind of like what Bob Dylan does to his most well known songs now when playing live. They sound completely different to the original recording.

Re: The Beatles Thread
Yes, that is another way of looking at it Tom.
He was trying to put across a different interpretation of the song.

Re: The Beatles Thread
Thanks for the link! I’ve been meaning to listen to this special but keep on forgetting.
Rumor has it Paul is going to release a McCartney III album on December 11th. There have been images of a dice with three day at on it on his Instagram page and I think people said on sportify they’re on the McCartney and the McCartney II covers. I don’t have sportify so I haven’t personally seen them.

Re: The Beatles Thread
I really hope the album is not like Egypt Station.
What does everyone think of the album cover?

Re: The Beatles Thread
I didn't listen to Egypt Station after hearing one of the singles. Terrible. Hoping this will be better.

Re: The Beatles Thread
I don’t think I really liked anything on Egypt Station. I think there were one or two tracks that I kinda liked but the fact that I can’t remember them says a lot.
So far I’ve heard nothing but good reviews for McCartney III so I really hope it’s going to be good

MCCARTNEY III: Initial thoughts???
I listened to the first two tracks this morning after I woke up. Long Tailed Winter Bird is extremely catchy and that guitar riff has been stuck in my head all day. Lavatory Lil is exceptional on every level.
The ONLY downside is his voice. "Find My Way" for example. No power and it's tough to hear. The other songs aren't as "bad" but that one really hits home. His voice has gone.

Re: The Beatles Thread
The thing is, he’s 78 years old. And he still tours. Quite honestly, I thought his voice sounded decent considering his age and how much he uses it. I think the lockdown gave him a chance to “rest” it if you will. It’s not the same as it was years ago, but again, he’s 78 years old. That being said, I liked the tune to the song The Kiss from Venus, but I hated his vocal on it. It’s not because his voice was weak but because I’m not a fan of the falsetto vocal.
I liked the album a lot. I found it very enjoyable. I thought Deep Deep Feeling was too long. I disliked Deep Down a lot. But I liked everything else.
I have to agree with Yom, Lavatory Lil is fantastic. Slid in’ is also fantastic.
Much, much better than Egypt Station. (Thank Goodness )

Re: The Beatles Thread
I like Paul, but to be polite, he is now looking and sounding his age
, in comparison to e.g. Mick Jagger who seems to be wearing the years quite well.
