Re: Damon on "McCartney III" covers (?) album

Out of all the songs on the album, this one suits Damon the most. It’s actually one of my favorites from the album. I kinda hope it’s not a remix and that it’s a cover, but we’ll see. The cover of the song “The Kiss of Venus” by Dominic Fike is actually very good. He put his own verse in, but it st...

Re: Damon on "McCartney III" covers (?) album

Damon Albarn - Paul McCartney links so far (other than just meeting each other on many various occasions): Africa Express gig in 2012, Paul and Damon playing "Coming Up" from McCartney II album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEDblqhJPkU Damon covering Blackbird (The Beatles song, of course, but wr...

Re: Damon on "McCartney III" covers (?) album

Quite excited for this, I like this album. I also think that Damon a Paul have a lot in common as musicians (I´m not necessarily saying they sound similar or making similiar music), its mainly they aproach to making music as daily routine, a day job - further judgement on this also depends on how an...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Are we even sure Gorillaz will start Season 2 in the situation where another festival season is highly uncertain due to covid? Glastonbury was already cancelled. Is there a will in the Gorillaz camp to pursue another season of releasing youtube singles with finale of an online gig? My guess is they´...

Re: new Graham gig | Live For Beirut | Jazz Cafe 11 December 2020

Ironically, I´m trying to promote Graham stuff there and on other platforms, this was the first time I had someting harsh to say and it backfired greatly. I didnt mind his reply, I would love him as musician even if he wrote "shut up, asshole" or something like that. But people who came to defend hi...

Re: new Graham gig | Live For Beirut | Jazz Cafe 11 December 2020

I haven't seen it either, but blurceska's review seems very harsh. Looks like it was written by someone who hasn't seen Graham play solo gigs live before. Yes he can appear nervous, but usually the love and collective will from the audience pulls him through... Well, it was me who wrote this at Twi...

If you're scared of even going to a socially distanced event, you really do have problems. Super spreader event! lol If I've learned anything this past year its to not be too critical of other peoples thoughts/emotions, and show a bit more compassion Exactly! (icluding not to tell other people that...

Re: Superstate by Graham Coxon

Sad how Graham doesn't just release a proper album - maybe he doesn't want to tour small venues, and feels releasing a proper album would mean he'd have to. Soundtracks, mediocre covers band and now a fucking comic? Did you actually listen to the soundrack albums? There are many great songs there, ...

Re: Gorillaz dream Collaborations

Alex James on bass, because that would complete all Blur members appearences on Gorillaz records. After Dave on (at least) "Punk" and Graham on "Submission" and "Magic City".

Re: Superstate by Graham Coxon

There are 9 Graham Coxon songs on Spotify that hit 1 milion listens mark. 7 out of those 9 are from soundtracks. Another comparation is maybe even more revealing: his most popular song on Spotify, "Walking All Day" from first season of The End Of The Fucking World", has 7.5 milion listens. "Freakin ...

He also did the Rhianna/Kanye collab but that was shite. Although probably financially huge.
I saw him doing Four Five Seconds live, in Prague in 2016 - without Kanye and Rihanna, obviously - and it was nice rendition within his set. Nothing special, but no disaster.

Re: Damon Albarn hints at future Gorillaz collab with Paul McCartney

Specially McCartney II have some proto-Gorillaz moments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAnNgCsNMnk Check My Machine and Secret Friend should be the obvious links to Gorillaz. Most of the planned double album for McCartney II was very forward thinking. I know his solo career quite well and I mostl...

Re: Damon Albarn hints at future Gorillaz collab with Paul McCartney

McCartney can experiment, just look at his back catalogue. McCartney I, McCartney II, the Fireman albums, and now McCartney III which will definitely be experimental base on the previous two McCartney albums. Paired with Gorillaz? That would be something special. I hope we see it. Who knows, maybe ...

Re: Damon Albarn hints at future Gorillaz collab with Paul McCartney

Let's move on, folks. I'd dig a McCartney/Gorillaz collaboration. I look forward to what (hopefuly) interesting "McCartney III" brings. Also, I used to think it might be interesting if Damon produced his solo album. Because when Nigel Godrich (someone from Damon generation) did, the outcome was sat...
