Re: Most Blur-like albums

I used to love Klaxons and thought they were just masters of melody. So many of those songs had two or three hooks in them. It wasn't a deep album or overly complex but it was a great debut and was a bonafide unique, bright sound that shaped a subculture that seeped into plenty of avenues. That's a ...

Re: Gene by gene

Entertain Me and Top Man should not be on the same record.

The melody is so similar and the general critique and perspective is as well.

In an overlong album it's pretty stupid to have both.

Re: B-Roads

If Pitchfork put up a headline saying 'Blur release 25 year old lost documentary' it would be news and people would give a shit, for sure. The people who have this are by no means getting more interested in the band and less occupied with life. I'd say they're losing touch with forums and caring les...

Re: The Universal

Roll With It is a better song. It sounds way more catchy and doesn't seem to be written to be intentionally catchy, whereas Country House has a pretty dumb main lyric and delivery. Roll With It also has that nice cadence in the melody's hook and has this undercurrent of another feel to it. Guess Cou...

Re: unpopular blur opinions

Some interesting points by Coopa, Pavlich. lumaka and stephen. Blur were a fantastic group with lots of popular singles that made them a household name, and are now confined to that era of popularity. Kids growing up and going through all the albums and videos and everything means they're exploring...

Re: Graham's "The End of the F***ing World" Walking All Day

Re: unpopular blur opinions

If you can't like his music now or whatever or always hold it up to Parklife, that is your issue, but you know, teenagers grow up and find different things and change and evolve. Ragging on them doesn't help. What an odd thing to say. Why is it an issue? If he made Humanz in 1994 and Parklife in 20...

Re: unpopular blur opinions

People will always buy into the era of art and in my opinion its a great thing, but I like zeitgeists. Teenagers get into The Beatles and start saying stupid things like 'I was born in the wrong decade,' but people also buy into great poets and imagine their struggles in war time Europe or depressio...

Re: Think Tank is underrated.

I disagree, I think it is a really poor album. I think it is badly produced- I really didn't like Hillier's production the album feels so sterile. Songs like Ambulance and Good song sounded so much better live. Damon's lyrics are dire and half the songs sound unfinished. Also it has the two previou...

Re: THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN THREAD

A real shame that the album, if finished, is going to sit unheard for at least a year. It won't be released while Gorillaz are still active and they are touring deep into 2018. So this time next year at the earliest but given Damon's schedule, who knows, maybe a 2019 release date is more likely. So...

Damon and melancholy

What is it about Damon Albarn and melancholy? He can really nail a feeling of utter loss, or acceptance, or optimism but all in the lens of aware sadness. Whether it's Sing, To The End, This is a Low, The Universal, Yuko & Hiro, To The End, Feel Good Inc, El Manana, On Melancholy Hill, Lonely Press ...

Re: Blur album's release dates

In the 90s you could sell records based on... selling records. A band at Blur's popularity could have made money and relied on their own touring to get their income. Now, festivals dictate everything and indie bands generally get their material out in time for Coachella so they can use that to boost...

The cause of stopping 'young people from being lonely.' How weird and vague. Youth mental health yeah, but there are so many noble causes out there and loneliness isn't really that high on the list is it? What, buy them all xboxes?
