Re: B-Roads

It is now time for it to be available to the long term fans who have never seen it, I don't see a problem?

Re: Weezer Thread

Having just checked out the previous posts, I had a listen to the Teal album, love it! much better covers...

But then checked out that new zombie song, omg that is pap pop pants, hopefully the album will be better.

Re: Weezer Thread

I like some Weezer, but they are guilty of one of the worst cover versions of all time, they dared to touch the brilliant Talk Talk, and destroyed "Life's What You Make It"

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

The Poison Tree would have made a great Blur song. Think of what Graham could have done with it! Completely agree! While I love this album and band, and think that Merrie Land fits perfectly under TGTBTQ, it's hard not to imagine how good it would be as a blur album as well. I would kill for a blur...

Re: Blur Drum Chronology

Mallard sound like we around at the same time, always identify with you answers. I remember There's No Other Way on the video jukebox in the pub in 1991 but didn't get into Blur properly till Modern Life in 1993 and then was hooked!

Re: Blur Drum Chronology

Brilliant, and great editing!

Popscene should have been on all releases of Modern Life....sigh

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

Why do you hate it? I just can't find a decent tune in almost all of it. It feels like Damon has gone for this really dainty, meandering and twee sound but the songs don't have strong enough melodies to pull it off. I still listen to the first GBQ album quite regularly but I'm really disappointed w...

Shed Seven blew Damon away (top 10 new album last year in a very competitive month).

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

So is it just me who (so far) thinks that Merrie Land is dreary bollocks? Four listens in and it's boring the tits off me. 6/10 at best. Agreed, can barely listen to it. Compare this to "For Tomorrow" a song about England, it's like a million miles away in quality. I used to be excited about new mu...

Yeah a friend a year or two later said he had heard it on the Evening Session, too loud for daytime!

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

Just finished the album. Amazing. Simply breathtaking. The Last Man To Leave is the only song I haven’t fully warmed to yet but even then the album is a solid 8/10 for me at this point. Potentially 9/10 after a few more listens. This was worth waiting 11 years for. Wow. I think they should have rel...

Re: Simon Mayo Breakfast Show jingle by Blur, 1993

The irony is that Radio One were keen to play the 'Popscene' jingle, but perhaps not the song itself....? I don't remember the single getting much airplay at all. No I didn't discover Popscene until it appeared on the Starshaped Video late 1993, and was blown away by the song and the video, always ...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

Merrie Land is a ten song lament of Anglo-Saxosentialism marking the reluctant end of a relationship... Reluctant end of a relationship? What relationship is that? Is it a metaphor of more "Brexit is terrible" rubbish? yeah what a disaster not having to answer to an unvoted mafia group the EU, with...

Re: I bought the Wassailing Song 7" for £9.99

No one is buying it for £200+ in 2018, back in the 90/00s deffo, but thanks to the internet, You Tube etc, these rare tracks are no longer so special.
