Re: Gorillaz tour 2021

I hear what you are saying stephen - I like to think they will happen, but I agree with your cautious approach.

aldamasta - yes, the 'Blur hinterland' covers Blur and all associated projects.

The latter were instigated by the original band.

Re: addiction and blur

The alcohol and substances were made available, and the recipents could ease-in to over-indulgence.

It is inter-laced with touring and TV shows, and crossing time-zones between countries, meaning you may need to be awake when your body tells you otherwise.

Re: Blur fan first and foremost or Damon Albarn fan?

I am a Blur fan first and foremost. Damon is the leader of the 'Blur family' but Graham, Alex and Dave bring important ingredients to their success, as do those involved in Gorillaz and TGTG&TQ projects.

Re: the Good, the Bad & the Queen - the end?

Some things are only supposed to be finite. I never liked them as much as I willed myself to, but they go out with a pretty tight little discography and a vibe of being well curated. That is an interesting viewpoint which I can't disagree with. Their songs don't jump out at me like many Blur (or Go...

Re: Is The Great Escape the worst Blur album?

Rubi - 'Bang' is maybe not the most under-rated Blur song ever, but it was certainly a great inie song of the time, accompanied by an immediate video.

I don't mind 'Mr Robinson's Quango', and I understand Styopa's point that it epitomises Britpop at its height.

Re: Is The Great Escape the worst Blur album?

Re: Leisure - if you came to Blur retrospectively, you would probably be less keen on 'Leisure'. If you were there at the time, you might view it differently. It was the album that first brought Blur to attention, and gained its initial fans at a time when indie wasn't accepted into the mainstream. ...

Yes it could be shown now, and would only be noticed by dedicated fans.

It would not affect their career either way.

Re: Is The Great Escape the worst Blur album?

I like TGE but it isn't quite as good as its comparators MLIR and Parklife, though it was right for the time. I like 'Country House' - it worked well at the time and really took Blur to the mainstream audience. 'The Universal' in itself is quite epic, but over-familiar due to its use in the advert. ...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

It's all been a bit meh for me, the stand out track for me was the first one; Momentary Bliss. Maybe i'm just at an age where I don't appreciate the current trends. I think there is some truth in this Stephen. It can get to a point, e.g. for those aged 35+, when you no longer get over-excited over ...
