But I think I've only heard 2 Bowie covers that I like: "As The World Falls Down" by Lights and "Andy Warhol" by Dana Gillespie

AdvertBreak wrote:The last song they did together (I Feel Free) is such a great underrated tune. Perhaps Bowie's best ever cover.
"Wild Is The Wind" disagrees, as does "My Death".

Re: Albums for 2016

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir9RgLZuIfY New Suede single. And wow! Not at all what I was expecting. At all. Fucking wow. Let's hope its a good sign of things to come. From The Guardian: The album sees Brett Anderson addressing the subject of family – and the fear and anxiety that accompanies pa...

Re: David Bowie Thread (RIP)

It's too early and difficult to rank Blackstar, so I didn't vote for it here.
I have, however, just listened to it for the first time since the weekend. And damnit if "Dollar Days" isn't one stunning song.

Re: David Bowie Thread (RIP)

Yes, AB: I voted Buddha one of my top 5, and of all albums in his catalog it's BTWN that Blackstar reminds me of the most. I cannot begin to express how sad I am at the moment. Yesterday at work I wasn't able to speak to anyone all day. I think it was the first time since 2005 that I cried. In 2005 ...

Re: David Bowie Thread

I'm going to resist. One more week, and then my first listen can be with a copy of the record in my hands.

Re: Last Album You Listened To?

I'm 4 albums into 1979 (rating out of 10 in brackets) Elvis Costello - Armed Forces (7) (Jan) What some people have with Dylan, I have with Costello: his voice rubs me the wrong way, so I like his songs better than his recordings. Here is songs are so good I can overcome this. George Harrison - Geor...

Re: Last Album You Listened To?

I'm going to listen to my whole collection in chronological order, starting in 1979 which is the year I was born. I was initially going to listen to albums released after I was born only, but I have two that various internet sites list as "April 1979", so they could've been released before or after....

Re: David Bowie Thread

Am I alone in hoping he doesn't tour (or give interviews)?
His distance from the audience is such a breath of fresh air.

Re: Lush

I recall reading that before Chris committed suicide, Emma had told Miki and Phil of her intentions to leave the band. I think Emma leaving would've been the end. Of course it's always possible with a break from touring she'd change her mind, but by '96 and before Chris took his life, Lush were begi...

Re: Lush

They do and they don't if you get what I mean. Miki looks great, thought she might visit the redhead look again. had a massive teenage crush on her back in the early '90s! I get what you mean, although I think we can all agree that Chris probably looks absolutely nothing like he used to! #stilltooso...

Re: Overrated Music

Not sure you can blame producers for shitty mastering, but it cannot be coincidence that Rubin was behind "Californication" and "Death Magnetic", two potentially solid albums totally ruined and made unlistenable by loudness.
