Re: David Bowie Thread (RIP)
I got the previous one, but I think I'll skip this... it can be debated that any person needs one version of Stage, let alone 2. The Re:Call disc isn't very interesting, and those who've heard the remixed Station To Station maintain it's wildly inferior. That leaves 3 remastered albums and "The Gous...

Re: Skeleton Tree
I bought it on my holidays (I have all his records, original plus the remastered+DVD versions released a few years back), but didn't get the chance to listen yet. To be honest, I'm a little scared of listening to it after all I read + the well-documented trauma surrounding the recording, just like I...

Re: Best non-blur b-sides?
Grant Lee Buffalo - I Will Take Him. I cannot find it on Youtube, but it's a pearl. Some of my favourite lyrics too, sinister stuff: A flat-footed traveler came in off the street And opened up his carpet bag of Persian at my feet And gathering up the amaranth trampled 'neath his heels I've come for ...

Re: Bob Dylan Thread
You must listen to Oh Mercy. The rest of his 80s output I can live without (though some of it isn't bad... Shot Of Love, Infidels and Saved are worth listening). But Oh Mercy has stunning songs.

Vivre Sa Vie.. stunning.

Maybe you need to watch the whole film to feel it, but at 8:40 in this fantastic scene (towards the end) something happens that just knocked me out. Simple and devastating.

Re: Every UK number one single 1987-2008 rated out of 10
That was the year I started listening to music, so I have a lot of love for a lot of these songs (and their video's)... nothing can redeem that awful Starship song though. I hate that one so much. But a moment for Mel & Kim. I saw this on VH1 for the first time in ages, and quite I enjoyed the energ...

Re: Jazz Thread
I've started exploring the genre, though my knowledge is pretty limited. As you do, I've started with some canon records.. Kind Of Blue, Love Supreme, Monk's Dream, The Shape of Jazz to Come, Bitches Brew... i think my favourite so far is Dave Brubeck's Time Out. It's also interesting to hear some d...

Re: Albums for 2016
I'm not the best at following the newest thing either. Still haven't heard the Courtney Barnett album, though I like that single. Sounds like a Leisure B-side, kind of. Her album's overrated. There are some nice songs, above average lyrics (definitely better than Leisure B-sides' lyrics!)... but th...
