Re: GORILLAZ: Humanz Album Thread // 28th April

Put it on in the headphones and took it in over a long run through the Scottish countryside. There wasn't anything I disliked as such, though save for 5 or 6 songs I really liked it all sounded a bit too abrasive and jittery. I suppose it's actually quite in tune with a lot of modern grime, hip hop ...

Re: Damon+Morrissey- 'entertaining month-long email exchange

Gosh this would have been quite something. And probably the most refreshing thing Moz could have done since the early 90s.

Maybe Damon will produce something of his in future, get Morrissey to ditch the wedding band he's had backing him and branch out a little bit musically.

Re: Alt-Blur

Read an interview from the TT period earlier where Damon says how when Graham came into the studio after getting sober, the material the 3 of them had worked on "just didn't work" as a 4 piece. Really got me thinking that there really doesn't sound like there'd be much room at all for Graham to expr...

Re: INTERVIEW: Dave Rowntree (Parts 1 & 2)

... What about the abandoned 2012 sessions with William Orbit? Anyone know why nothing materialized from that? If I recall correctly, around that time William Orbit posted a heated rant on his Facebook Page claiming that he hadn't been paid for the sessions and would never work with Albarn again..

Exactly what I thought, but did they not say that it had a reggae feel at one point too?

Re: Bill Laswell Session - 2000

Is there a 1992 version of 1992 in existence anywhere that's available to listen to?

It's a shame those 2 never collaborated while Bowie was alive. However, would hate if Graham was in and out at the same rate most of Bowie's other guitarists were :p ..

Who else on here is in a band?

If you're in a band or even just make your own personal recordings available for the public to listen to online then post your stuff! If you aren't any more but once were then feel free to share any stories :). I sing and play guitar in a band called Lional. I'll go first... https://m.youtube.com/wa...

Re: Thoughts on the self titled album

Brilliant album and a Country "House" Mile better than the knob twiddling Orbitfest "13" Gotta say, my only criticism of 13 is Orbits production. The production on S/T is much more organic and although there's a change in style, all the individual qualities of each member still shine through, so I'...

Re: Thoughts on the self titled album

whataver. when blur does strange songs, their fans don' get it, cuz their a pop band with pop fans. I get it. Haha I can assure you I appreciate the more experimental aspects of Blur. 13 is probably my favourite(though always changes). The only songs on S/T I outright don't like are M.O.R and Just ...

Thoughts on the self titled album

What's everyone's thoughts on 'Blur'? From the scanning I've done on this forum(though still a relative newcomer) it doesn't seem to get nearly as much attention as any of the other albums. Personally I find it a very intriguing album and like how it was largely written and recorded in Iceland, but ...

Re: Is Blur a strange choice of favourite band!?

Some great replies. And interesting to hear perspectives from different parts of the world where Blur weren't necessarily a 'huge' band, even in the 90s. I agree Doug, the age thing is a big factor. Any of my friends who share anywhere near a similar fondness to Blur are friends of mine who are in t...

Is Blur a strange choice of favourite band!?

The other day me and my girlfriend were sitting listening to music and I popped on Parklife to highlight comparisons between Blur and one of her favourite bands, The Kinks, as she's always been pretty indifferent when it comes to Blur. She turned to me and said "I like Blur, but I just don't get why...
