Re: unpopular blur opinions

I think Pav is using sarcasm to highlight the sacrilege of us criticising Beetlebum haha..

Re: The Magic Whip American shows

Yep, Damon's newfound (well, now over a decade old...) popularity in America really seemed to help. And the 2 gigs certainly helped fill up the venues, but it was still a massive success for blur as a band, regardless of those factors. To go from playing empty clubs in the early 90s and hating Amer...

Re: unpopular blur opinions

The chorus in Beetlebum is actually pretty pedestrian.. Would definitely put it in top 5 singles. Despite first hearing it upon its release in 1997, I can still enjoy listening to it, but I have always been surprised at it's chart success. The intro is iconic, up until the drop and Damon's "and whe...

The Magic Whip American shows

Just reading up on the Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden gigs Blur did on The Magic Whip tour. I know it wasn't a proper tour and if they had done a whole tour across the States in similar sized venues then maybe they wouldn't all have been as well attended, but I can't help but feel that tho...

Re: fools day - blur best song as 4 men since 1999

Agree it's underrated. One of Graham's finest solos. I feel retrospectively the way it was released as a record store day one off was a massive waste. I guess they just didn't want to make a fuss at all as there was no album on the horizon then. If it actually had a proper chorus it could have possi...

Re: Blurd Tribute Band...

Yeah with Blurd I was pretty disappointed with how even basic parts in songs were wrong. The drummer was playing Country House on the ride cymbal and twice as fast, succeeding in making it sound like a dodgy Happy Mondays B side. Saw a video of them attempting Stereotypes as well. The groove was jus...

Re: Think Tank is underrated.

Thank you for introducing me to 'Colours', Damon008. What a beautiful tune it is. I am ashamed to say I wasn't aware of it's existence until you posted that comment. It further adds to the proof that the Think Tank sessions were so strong. Adding On my way to the club and The Outsider to your EP tra...

Think Tank is underrated.

I work in a musical instrument store and just the other day when my manager was clearing out old boxes of sheet music and music books, she came across the official Think Tank sheet music book and kindly said I could have It(it had probably been there since 2003). The next day I had off I sat down wi...

Re: Gorillaz "tour strategy" is intriguing - summer 2018 dat

Doing your own headline tour one year then the European festival circuit the next is quite a common 2 year tour cicle with most the premier bands these days. Radiohead, Muse, Foo Fighters, RHCP, Arctic Monkeys and Arcade Fire all do it. Wasn't it the second year of touring Plastic Beach that they di...

Re: First 'hidden' instrumental piece at the end of "Caramel

Jesus.... Okay. The same way one would feel compelled to say that "This is a low" is the album closer on Parklife, despite there of course being a track following it. In a literal sense, of course it isn't the final track, but FIGURATIVELY speaking, I would say it to put my point or opinion across ...

Yes. I was implying that Trimm Trabb is the pinnacle. The last 2 tracks I was disregarding. As I stated, it's purely in my opinion.

Thanks for your input though, doesn't deviate from my querie at all... lol.

First 'hidden' instrumental piece at the end of "Caramel"?

One of my favourite features of 13 are all the interludes and hidden tracks at the end of each song. To me it makes the whole album seem like the kind of disturbing nights sleep one has when going through an emotional trauma with all these bizarre pieces of music, sometimes beautiful, sometimes unse...
