Re: Syd Barrett

Did they ever mentioned any closer songs or an album? I think, though not sure, that one of the B-sides of Leisure (was that Berserk ? an instrumental one in any case...) was described by Graham as a kind of mash-up of Barretty guitar tricks. As for Barrett's albums, there are just two of them: The...

Re: Terrapin

I've read that before somewhere.
I've known both songs for quite a long time, and the comparison never sprung to my mind. Now listening again, I can see how one can hear similarities. I still think the two songs have somewhat different atmospheres though.

Re: One Born Every Minute

Clover Over Dover is probably the song I'd most want to hear live out of all the unplayed ones. They never played this one live? There must be a reason for this. :? It was once described by a band member as being too difficult to replicate live, how/why escapes me, I think that was in 3862 Days, bu...

Re: damon needs a dave balfe

It's pretty well analysed in 3862 Days how Balfe wanted to pull the Leisure sessions towards a more baggy sound, despite the band's will to have a more "Barretty" sound. They ended with four different producers on the album, and we all know how much it lacks consistency... So I disagree, Balfe did h...

Re: "The End of the F***ing World" - full soundtrack album

I eventually got to listen to the album. It's really, really good, I find.

Unpopular opinion: my first-listen favs were Sleuth and Lucifers Behind Me. :)

Hi all. I should have posted here some tiiiiiiiiiiiiiime ago, but... well, better late than never, and also I didn't want to introduce myself once and never come again on the board (no offense to those concerned; anyway if you're reading this you're not concerned.) :) So well, I'm 35, been into Blur...

shandy lol, but ringo was a beatles in essence so win win Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Ringo's playing, that was just for the quotation... ;) To come back to the topic, I think there's a fine balance in being a fan. I was thinking about completism: we all have a pretty decent and complete ...

Gene by gene

I thought it would be interesting to talk "genetics" in Blur songs, i.e. how songs can relate to each other in their inspiration, composition, etc. throughout the years. A few thoughts I had: Blue Jeans and Resigned are twin songs; the guitar riff of Movin' On is a harder version of that of Magic Am...

Re: The Beatles Thread

Is it a well-known fact that the mono remasters differ from the stereo versions? Notwithstanding the obvious differences, e.g. Helter Skelter being one (!!) minute shorter on the mono version, there are other minute details that I came to realise today: on the intro of Sexy Sadie for example, the mo...

Re: Blur Tribute album in the works (forum comp)

I've been listening to the four covers already published, they are very enjoyable! (dparrott, you have a very Morrisseyesque voice! ;) ) I'm just fixing some mix details on my version of My Terracotta Heart (getting the percussions as loud as they should be, that sort of thing... :D ). Also I've sta...
