It's a shame but I have to agree that it doesn't feel like an album to me (and that's consistent with what they originally intended, I guess).
I find myself in the odd position of thinking that Song Machine has better songs than Humanz, but the latter is the better album. Don't ask me to explain!

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
I don't think Pitchfork, The Quietus or Stereogum even bothered reviewing it, did they? Presumably their albums of the year are constructed from stuff they've reviewed.

Re: blur|banksy...
I went through a bit of a hording in 2003 and bought everything blur, but for some reason I never went for the think tank album and single vinyl's and they appear to be the ones that are worth the most. I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles I'm in the process of filling out my record coll...

Wouldn't consider buying any other format; certainly not mp3s!

Shane MacGowan would be both topical and terrific.

Or, alternatively, he's doing whatever he likes, and that's cool.

Re: Gorillaz dream Collaborations
David Byrne, Alex Kapranos and Thom Yorke are all great ideas I’d add: Bon Iver The Horrors (I know it has been done but would love it to see the light of day) Hot Chip Ghostpoet The Flaming Lips Yannis Phillipakis Paul Weller Nick Cave Guy Garvey Christine and the Queens All great calls. Can imagi...

Re: Super State by Graham Coxon?
Just saw that, looks good. Graham is wonderful. Interesting to see one of the key musicians in Blur having such an original idea, meanwhile. A vaguely dystopian, fantastical excursion into high-concept pop, accompanied by comic-book visuals. Where've I heard that before... Looking forward to Dave's ...

Intrigued by 'there's a lot of material'. I wonder if that means Blur were recording new stuff while they reheased and toured TMW.
Hope so. I expect that what he means is that there are lot of songs on his iPad which he's mentally earmarked for Blur.

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
I've not really gone back to it, despite being very very happy that it exists. Go Out, Lonesome St, Ghostship, Ong Ong, Pyongyang and Ice Cream Man are keepers. The rest are all much of a mid-tempo muchness to my mind (said with the utmost respect for the wonderful playing and emotion imbued by the ...

Re: Ray Davies - The Deal (& Look Inside America)
I've always meant to explore the Kinks on an album by album basis; I'm sure it's one of the great blanks in my musical knowledge - I know pretty much every Rolling Stones, Bowie, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan LP backwards and inside out, but I still gravitate towards specific songs by The Kinks rather than wh...
