Re: The Beatles Thread
I've got a bit of a soft spot for Paul Mc-C although I've never really bought any of his stuff. Guess I just think it's amazing that one of the main voices of the Beatles is still with us and singing new songs. One relatively recent song of his I really like is My Ever Present Past. It's on a compil...

Re: The Divine Comedy - new box set
Absolutely not. It's off the Victory For The Comic Muse album, and imho, its highlight is A Lady Of A Certain Age , possibly Neil Hannon's best song ever. I also like To Die A Virgin , Mother Dear , and Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World better than Snowball In Negative . Very solid album. Interes...

Re: The Divine Comedy - new box set
Just heard the song 'Snowball in Negative' for the first time.
Wow!
Surely the highlight of the album it's off?

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Went in at #7 on the global album chart with first week sales of 73,000. So about 25% sold in the UK. 248,000 for B Springsteen. www.mediatraffic.de/albums.htm Pretty disappointing compared to the Humanz (260k),the Now Now (129k) and Magic Whip (124k). Damon's Every Day Robots even got 65k in its f...

Elton John chatting to Damon
Just come across this on Youtube. Recorded a couple of weeks ago.
Not sure if it's already been posted - apols if it has.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvLynMBBIk8
EJ comes across as the world's biggest Damon fan!

Sounds like a question for our Graham!
Apparently, he sometimes posts round here...

Re: Blur record sales update
Ps I just read on Wikipedia that Graham wrote Coffee&TV.
Is this true? Had not realised.
Assumed it was mainly an Albarn composition like most Blur songs but just sung by GC.

Wow - great news for Graham (about Coffee&TV). Well done Mr C, if you're reading!idreamofpikas wrote: ↑31 Oct 2020, 23:41Coffee and TV is now Silver and Parklife has gone Platinum and Girls and Boys Gold.
I do love the sound of Graham's voice on these big melancholic songs.

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
It's a guaranteed #2 for the album here in the UK. Miles behind Springsteen and now a few thousand ahead of #3. Should sell about 15,000 in week 1. Presumably that's a good few more than Now Now. 16,535 sales for the Now Now in its first week in the UK Oh interesting, thanks. Bit surprising though ...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Still waiting for my copy to be delivered from Gorillaz Store. Was due to come bundled with the Deluxe Almanac, then they said last week the Almanac was delayed a month but the CD would be sent separately. Nothing came over weekend, then Monday I get an email saying Almanac and CD had been shipped....

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Ah, sadly no flipping chance of #1! As I (kind of) predicted, Bruce Springsteen is miles ahead. He's on 37,000 and Gorillaz are at #2 with 9,000. Nothing but Thieves (I've never heard of them either!) are close behind and may overtake, especially if they've got a single out that's picking up airplay...

Re: The Divine Comedy - new box set
I'm a huge fan. Kinda overlooked his last two albums, but eventually got to listening to them. Foreverland was alright but nothing special, whereas Office Politics was very disappointing despite actually being The Divine Comedy's highest charting record in the UK ever! Casanova for me is one of the...
