Dizzzy - you will need to read this thread throughout, to get the drift.

Re: The Great Escape
I don't think TGE is any worse than 'Parklife'. Of the three in the 'trilogy', Parklife probably has a slight edge over MLIR and TGE. I agree that the singles from TGE were a bit generic, though thankfully 'Country House' with its oompah sing-a-long feel was released as the lead single - it grabbed ...

Re: Roy Wood
Roy was & remains a great musician, though is amongst many contenders for album of the decade.
Check out the period c.1970-72 when The Move/ELO/Wizzard and his solo work overlapped.

Yes, absolutely.

doug - don't get too tired....
But I think that it is quite a long way in the past now, and as Tom suggests, not of much interest beyond dedicated fans. It could likely go on YT and not attract controversy.

Re: Albums you've bought
Kevin Ayers is perhaps another artist who can be grouped in with Alan Price, Roy Wood and Peter Skellern.

Re: What pisses you off at the moment?
It is a bit of a relief when the mischief night/Halloween/bonfire night period ends - unfortunately, it attracts various kinds of anti-social behaviour.

Re: Albums you've bought
Yes, I can particularly recommend the Alan Price one which is a forgotten gem, though it was a big hit for him in 1974. The Roy Wood one was good too. I have never got beyond the (few) hit singles of Peter Skellern, though like Roy and Alan he was a kind of 'quintessential English' type of artist.

Is that the same song that Michael McDonald did?

Yes there are residents like that - we have some more or less exactly as you say, with England flags draped from their windows, setting fireworks off on green space between the houses.
It is a rather different take on the Britishness that Blur promote in 'Parklife'.

Re: What pisses you off at the moment?
Yes you are absolutely right PaulG. Fireworks seem to be on general sale again, and in recent weeks I have seen them set-off in my neighbourhood, regardless of whether people are passing-by. There is much anti-social behaviour at the moment amongst young people, I suspect influenced by the gradual r...

Genesis always worth a listen to, up until the mid-80s.
