Re: The Beatles Thread

Yes I don't know what to conclude about Paul. In the one sense, he is growing old gracefully, but in another sense that video as MsMA says is scary....

Re: Blur Drum Chronology

Sledge Hammer - we probably were around at the same time :) I don't remember 'She's So High' in 1990, but I think that evening Radio One must have played it :geek:  I picked up on 'There's No Other Way' because Radio One played it through the day and IIRC it had a big climb up the top 40. I...

Re: Whats your favourite song at the moment

The remember the RAH band single, 'Clouds Across The Moon', at that time - it was a bit cheesy.

I have never checked them out, and I don't think they had big hit albums, but 'The Crunch' single (1977) is great :D

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Album Thread

The Poison Tree would have made a great Blur song. Think of what Graham could have done with it! Completely agree! While I love this album and band, and think that Merrie Land fits perfectly under TGTBTQ, it's hard not to imagine how good it would be as a blur album as well. I would kill for a blur...

Re: The Beatles Thread

the bonus material does show that Paul was perhaps a bit..bereft, shall we say, of material during the making of Wild Life. I love that album TONS, but still it's definitely the weakest of the Wings releases He released three albums in 18 months, which was not unusual in that period, but put a dema...

Re: Beach Boys Thread

I find it difficult to choose between those 'All I Wanna Do' versions Louie. I often like the rawness of demos, but I think the final version here has a flowing completeness. I think that by the later 60s, the 'wall of sound' production technique was not helping the Beach Boys. I must admit I am not...

Re: B-Sides

Yes, absolutely. The Barrett-esque sound was distinct and took the 'trippy indie' of the time to a deeper level.

Re: Blur Drum Chronology

Popscene should have been on all releases of Modern Life....sigh Absolutely - I did not buy the 'Popscene' single originally, thinking that it would appear on a forthcoming album. I eventually got it on the Canadian release of the album, which I bought to upgrade from cassette to CD. P.S. great dru...

Re: The Beatles Thread

I consider "Revolver" their best album and I feel "Sgt. Pepper" hasn't aged that well whatsoever and has become vastly overrated over the years. I like 'Sgt Pepper' but like many of the great albums of 1967 it is a 'timepiece'. i.e. it could only have been recorded in that year (or, certainly later...
