Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Freedom doesn't always equal quality. Damon's very hit and miss these days. It would be nice for him to put proper focus on a project and be selective with what he chooses to release rather than trying to collaborate with everyone, everywhere. He can do whatever he wants, he's earned that. I still l...

Req: Slow Down in 1997
Hey guys,
does anyone have a live recording of 'Slow Down' from 1997?
I'm interested in hearing how they played it as a slightly older band.
Thanks!

Re: Top 10 Damon songs of the 2010s
This is a really tough topic. I narrowed it down in a playlist, but had a lot of songs bubbling under that could have easily appeared here.
1. Pyongyang
2. Amarillo
3. On Melancholy Hill
4. Hallelujah Money
5. To Binge
6. Go Out
7. Cloud of Unknowing
8. Magic City
9. Idaho
10. The Selfish Giant

Idaho always hits me with those odd chord changes. It has a real heady feel to it.Forever Low Man wrote:i've decided "Idaho" is the best song on here
Magic City would have to be my favourite at the moment though.

Re: GORILLAZ: The Now Now Album Thread
First of all, this album is great! I can't remember who said it but I definitely agree that this is his best and most cohesive record since TGTBATQ. This album gives me strong Blur vibes. I could easily imagine Kansas, Idaho, Magic City, One Percent and Souk Eye restructured as latter-day Blur tunes...

Is it bad that Sleeping Powder is my favourite song from the Humanz/Now Now era?

Re: Beach Boys Thread
It does make you wonder how the Beach Boys would have progressed if it was just the Wilson brothers at the helm. Apparently they basically finished Love You as a trio, with Al and Mike being absent for most of the proceedings. I feel like Dennis and Carl would have supported Brian better artisticall...

Re: Gene by gene
I think it's worth mentioning that in 1992 - a song that was demoed in, well, 1992 - Graham uses a specific guitar effect that hadn't been used in a Blur song since around that time, like Into Another and Hanging Over. The guitar sound Graham got towards the end of 1992 is the best noise I've ever ...

Re: Beach Boys Thread
I've just been listening to Love You. What a curious album! Some of Brian's best tunes on there.
In spite of his obviously damaged voice, I feel like Dennis' vocal contributions to this record were impeccable.

Re: fools day - blur best song as 4 men since 1999
Fool's Day is the only song since 13 that I think resembles prime Blur. There have been better songs, but as others have alluded to, the load seems to have been shared diplomatically between all group members here. Plus Graham is actually allowed to let loose on this one, his guitar solo is gorgeous.

Re: Did The Magic Whip give you closure?
Nope. I would have loved a bit more beautiful Graham noise over the tracks. It was too mellow, too Damon. The balance wasn't right IMO.

Re: 13: A Masterpiece
Love your work mate. I just have to say I've never felt as hopeless listening to a song as I have after '1992'. Graham's squalls of feedback are out of this galaxy. Heart-wrenching!!!
