Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

Song is definitely a grower, but I think it has already grown on me considerably since first listen. Wasn't eager to relisten like I was to the rest of the Song Machine tracks, but parts of Octavian's parts are interesting - albeit still the weakest of the Song Machine collabs. The instrumental is a...

Re: Damon Albarn - The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows

Don't remember ever seeing this barn studio - thought at first it could be in Iceland. Stream beginning, super excited!! Rich, still makes me sad we won't be seeing this at the Barbican in a little over a week... but this surprise is the best consolation no doubt :) certainly is the best consolatio...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine

I can see why people think it is a bit too New Order, but I love the combination. I don't think it falls too heavily on a New Order sound, instead it feels like the perfect mix of Gorillaz and New Order. Damon sounds like Damon in this tune, not like he's trying to be Bernard Sumner. His line in the...

Re: Best album closer

I voted with my head and said This Is A Low. But if I was voting with my heart it would've been close between Yuko and Hiro and Battery In Your Leg. I did the same. When considering Parklife as a whole, TIAL is just so perfect. And no doubt it is one of the best album closers of all time. But Batte...

Re: Damon Albarn - The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows

Can't wait rich! I too hope Damon will have worked out the kinks by then. Wonder when (or if) he will actually record it, and will it just be a live recording?

And a documentary would be lovely, I agree daii. Damon's home in Iceland looks beautiful, it would make for a perfect culture show episode!

Re: New track from Gorillaz to premiere on BBC Radio 1 this Thursday

I love the snippet Gorillaz posted today. Slaves rock so hard. And I think the idea of releasing it over the course of the year is really interesting. Maybe genius!

Must say, I’ve no idea what Damon and Jamie have up their sleeves! https://youtu.be/OfqJkOVrY2E

Re: new Gorillaz film - Reject False Icons

I didn't realize so many people (maybe mostly journalists that don't follow Gorillaz too closely) expected this to be so focused on the animation side. Based on reviews, I do think it's a bit of a bummer Jamie doesn't receive more air time - that's a bit odd. But Jamie has repeatedly said a Gorillaz...

Late to replying on this (been off the forum for a bit during final exams and all that), but it's actually a nice cover they've done.

Re: new Gorillaz film - Reject False Icons

It's so odd that it isn't playing in quite a few European countries, and in no South American countries! Denholm has said that fans in those countries that are unable to see it will be able to see it eventually... so I guess it will either be released on DVD/blu-ray and/or on a streaming platform. H...

Re: new Gorillaz film - Reject False Icons

Good prediction rich  I can totally see that happening. I bought tickets today! So glad this is getting such a large release. I am very excited, and even though we got a trailer today (more like a teaser trailer though, don't ya think?), I don't know much of what to expect. All I know is, the f...

Re: "The End of the F***ing World" - full soundtrack album

Listening to it now (iTunes download). So far, lots of similarities to the first soundtrack. I haven't heard anything that really jumps out like "She Left the Light On" or "Walking All Day", but still working my way through it. Early impressions are it's solid with a lot of variety in style and it ...

Re: Dr Dee, underappreciated?

I do think it could be a bit underappreciated. I think Apple Carts and O Spirit Animate Us are amazing tunes. Very haunting and beautiful. However, I am not sure I consider it a true solo album, per se, as I view Everyday Robots as Damon's official solo debut. Of course, there is an argument for Dr....
