Re: The return of SLEEPER!

Saw them again last night and they were fantastic. Not had a chance to get into the album properly yet but the song ‘The Modern Age’ is superb.

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Live Performances Thread

It’s a shame though. I’m going to the Liverpool gig and the Olympia looks a nicer venue than the Academy.

Re: Suede return with a New album The Blue Hour. September 2018

I can’t remember where I saw it but I did read an interview with Brett after the Blue Hour was released and he said he sees this as the end of a trilogy following Bloodsports and Night Thoughts. He also stated that they will be trying something different on the next record.

Re: The Beatles Thread

I went to see Paul McCartney last night. Simply amazing. He played for a full 3 hours. I’ve seen many artists play Beatles cover versions at gigs over the years but seeing one of the guys who actually wrote them play was unreal. As if that wasn’t enough they played Get Back in the encore with Ronnie...

Yeah I’m going to see them at Newcastle.I saw them play both nights at the Hammersmith 2 months ago and they were fantastic. I’ve seen them 8or 9 times and they are always superb. The Blue Hour is a great albutas well.

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Live Performances Thread

Oh yeah they won't be able to do the whole set but an hour would be more than long enough to play Merrie Land from start to finish.

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Live Performances Thread

It’s going to be interesting to see what sort of setlist they do on the festival circuit. Playing Merrie Land from start to finish might not be as well received as it has been at their own gigs. I remember when Blur got a bit of a backlash for playing 13 at T in the Park back in 99.

Re: Starshaped the tour - anyone been?

I saw Sleeper in Newcastle this year and they were great. Am going to see them again in March.
Must admit that the new single hasn’t grabbed me just yet. Hopefully it’s a grower.

Thanks for that Lumaka, that was a really good listen. Interesting that Damon isn't adverse to hurling abuse at people too!

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Live Performances Thread

I couldn't agree more Kdiglas. It is a piece of theatre right down to the backdrops and the lighting. Early in the set at Blackpool I found myself blown away by the image of the band silhouetted on the stage. The imagery was so striking at times.

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Live Performances Thread

Well after the unexpected joy of getting to the Cullercoats gig on Tuesday I made the way down to Blackpool yesterday. If you are going to see them in London I'd skip this as there will be spoilers. The setlist was the same as the other gigs but this time out the band had a string and brass section ...

Re: TGTBTQ: Merrie Land Live Performances Thread

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Seeing as how no others have been forthcoming I really felt I had to leave a review of Tuesdays gig in Cullercoats Crescent club. Apologies if this goes on and on! The whole thing was made surreal for me by the fact that I had only managed to get a ticket at...
