Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
Ghost Ship isn't actually too far away from Fade Away. It's just major chords instead of the dark, murky atmosphere the minor chords give in Fade Away. When I played TMW in the car with my dad when it first came out, Ghost Ship came on and he said "That's the strongest song". I think this highlighte...

Re: Amazing Story... need advice
If you have something you've done pressed on vinyl then you could gift it to him, but trying to get him to listen to a demo is a bit opportunistic and will make him uncomfortable. Maybe a slight clash of American and British culture, but that kind of thing is just kind of seen as a bit desperate to ...

Re: Is The Great Escape the worst Blur album?
Best Days: Possibly my favourite song on the album. A thing of beauty. The lyrics are interesting given the health issues Damon was experiencing. No need for the trip hop snare. Health issues? I think it was around the time TGE was being recorded that Damon was saying how he had experienced a mild ...
Re: B-Roads
... Having said that, I understand why those who have a copy feel a duty of respect to whomever they got it from not to share it with any kind of larger audience. I’m not in any way wanting to pressure those on here who have it or anything. Just in general I feel in the grand scheme of things it wou...
Re: B-Roads
I think it’s the fact that a portion of Blur fans on here have seen it. That’s why the rest of us feel a bit hard done by. And given the fact they have seen it, it makes little sense why a few more of us can’t. If it had never been seen by anyone out with the the filmmakers, the band and their immed...
Re: B-Roads
It is actually becoming beyond silly that it hasn't been leaked online yet. Concert films and tour documentaries being significant releases is a thing of the past. It's hardly a valuable asset to the record company anymore, you can barely monetize even brand new documentaries, let alone old artifact...

Re: Gorillaz - Song Machine
If you aren't an excessively marketed, global commercial pop act like Ed Sheeran, Drake, Dua Lipa, George Ezra or Sam Smith, then it's better to measure the success of a single based on how much it appears in the public domain via use in film, tv, advertisement and radio airplay. Charts are no longe...

Re: Is The Great Escape the worst Blur album?
I think a lot of the negative spin on TGE comes from public perception at the time and the choice of singles. Stereotypes should never have been a single. It's incidentally one of my favorite Blur songs, but to make it a single put too much pressure on it and thus it's looked back upon as a bit of a...

Re: All We Want in 13.
I like what Orbit did on the more ambient tracks like Caramel, 1992 etc, but I really feel the more traditional sounding Blur songs had a bit of an identity crises. The overly produced, almost ‘jungle’ drum sound used on bugman is so horrible. Makes it really sound dated. Ruins the whole song for me...

Re: Beetlebum: reaction at the time
Yeah fair enough Rubi, I suppose a Blur project is exclusively 4 members(save from the odd collaboration with British personalities and French singers), so it maybe doesn’t appeal to Damon’s expansive, collaborative aspirations whenever he pursues a musical project anymore. I just misread you as kin...

Re: Beetlebum: reaction at the time
Naaaaahh, I have to disagree with a lot of what has just been said... Blur are actually a very collaborative band. Particularly in terms of British pop bands of the past 30 years. Damon may come up with the nucleus of the songs(sometimes more), but he doesn't really dictate to the rest of the guys h...

Remember alex saying something like 'foo fighters betters watch out' or summat ridiculous lol "The Foo Fighters are gonna wet their pants when they hear it." Here´s the source: http://www.vblurpage.com/news/2006/0331.htm But remember: At the time it was going to be "2006 Blur", still without Graham...

Loving this new track.
Desole and Momentary Bliss capture the spirit of what makes the Gorillaz great more than anything on Humanz and The Now Now.

Beetlebum: reaction at the time
For those old enough to remember... What was the reaction like when Blur came back after the backlash of TGE and released Beetlebum as the lead single for S/T? It's obviously notably a lot darker in tone and a lot more intimate and personal than the jovial but sarcastic, character based songs they h...

Re: Lyrics for "Hope You Find Your Suburb"?
Never even thought to give this one a listen from start to finish. It almost sounds like it has ideas that would go on to become best days, stereotypes and on my way to the club..
